New Research on Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Suffragettes and Suffragists

There are several new pieces of research that have been published this year and can be made available on request or accessed on the internet.

If you live in The Park, Nottingham, the July 2018 issue of Park News includes an excellent article on the part played by The Park women and men in the fight for suffrage written by David Stewart.

Anthea Poppleston from the Bulwell Historical Society has written about Annie Shepherd the only woman to be elected as an Independent candidate to Nottingham City Council who was also a committed suffragist. Val Wood from the NWHG has had an article published in Women’s Writing on the Edwardian Suffrage Campaign in Nottingham – with specific reference to the Dowson Family, Helen Watts and Nellie Crocker the WSPU organiser in the city 1909-1912.
